Over the past few years, the transportation industry has experienced a 30% increase in operating cost. The resulting price increases for our clients has been staggering. In addition, the critical shortage of workers has made it challenging to maintain exceptional customer service. The shortage also caused difficult and stressful working conditions for our existing airport Team.
All of these conditions create a business model that does not work for our organization anymore.
Our contract ends December 31, and the airport will put it out for bid. James River has elected to not participate in the RFP.
Our entire Team would like to thank all those clients, passengers and partners who helped us provide this successful service at Richmond Airport for the past 10 years.
James River’s core business of charter, meeting services, contract services and public tours in Richmond and Norfolk are unaffected. Those services are close to pre-pandemic levels and performing well.
We have the utmost respect for their operation and value our affiliate relationship we've had for years. While we welcome their airport customers, we wish them the best with their continued success with their charter and contract operations.
